The Man Tied to the Tree

You can call me "The Man Tied to the Tree". I just wait here, longing to be free.

Late some nights when i have terrible frights, I let out a horrible scream. Hoping just once a young founded dunce will come into the moons beam. I then whisper him near saying there is nothing to fear as his eyes widen with gaze. More I pursue, as his head near my shoe, with his brow sweating and raised.

As I let out a cackle shaking my shackles staring at the boy. His mind now intrigued with the man in the tree is now making him all but coy. "Come here young man and cut these here rope bands as I sing you a soothe song! The Devil of Hell can surely tell that you are not one to do wrong. But you leave me here in the midnight clear, you will have done a truly great sin. All can be right with that dull bladed knife that is if you will be a friend."

These here ropes are hurting my throat, so please do be sure to hurry. Once this deed done if you be the one, ill let you run off and scurry. If you decline my angry inclines and just hope I never get free. Because if I do, I can certainly promise you, Your death will be all but carefree. My thumbs in your eyes and your blood choking cries will be lost in the dark cold night. Hope that Im done when I am having fun making a suit out of your skin white. For if I remember be it May nor September or whenever I get free. I will do what I said for Im already dead, Look out for the Man Tied to the Tree.

Hazardous(Part 1) : The Man From The Sea

Welcome to Nuke Bunker Atlantis 1.... How was your descent? ...... Please take fifteen minutes in our "decompression" Chamber ....

"Im fucking fine, im use to the depth just let me in my lab already.." I declared. The pressure doors opened to the UNWB or the (Underwater Nuclear World Base).. I showed my Identification to the scanner and proceeded to my lab section. I just got back from the surface and had data i needed analyzing. I passed my fellow coworkers as they were collecting data or doing busy work. I then entered my ID again to my office scanner elevator and went to my office. Perks of being in charge means an overlooking office but still not worth the stress. I put my data down and turned on Jeffrey, My robotic analytic humanoid computer, and sat in my chair.

Hello Sir! "
Hey Jef, what can you pick up on my data" I sighed.. Large amounts of radio and gamma frequencies ... Approximately 32 years til surface life sustainability....
"Damn.. i thought i had it this time, guess not.." I whispered
(Dr. Andrew.. Come down to lab floor one... Its important), blared the intercom.
Jeffrey come along and bring the data.

I reached the main floor and Tess met me once the elevator opened "Doc!" she exclaimed, "What where the test results of area delta 7?" I remembered that was her home town so i had to be gentle with the news.... I shook my head. She had lost pretty much everything already so not much really mattered or she can hide her feelings well because it didnt phase her at all. "When can we move out of the Delta region and start Gamma?" she inquired. "Fuck Gamma, we still have to expand UNWB to even build ships to get us in the gamma sector" I had a long day and Tess can never think realistically. "Jeffrey, give the data to Tess and follow me to the Inventory room". There I found Kyle and his fellow coworkers around the Inventory board room. The walls were lined with large containers filled with a green solution and inside we ambiguous looking  humanoids. Not robotic, but chemically generated people that have standard set intelligence and limited physical ability that can easily be controlled if necessary. Jeffrey is my own project that i led back in Theta 3, i created robotic assistance machines, jeffrey is a unique and the only one ever made to his abilities.

Kyle approached me ... "We need to see the results if we want to continue this project, we need to start putting life on D7 (delta 7) ". We cant do it, tests came back and still hazardous, nothing would live long enough to see the results.. i said. He paused.... .. "I know... thats why we need to test them here".

"We cant test them here! Who knows how dangerous that can be!?" ... Doc.. Im not asking you, im telling. We are doing it here. The board room got quite and the tension raised. .... I sighed.. Keep your freaks away from my engineering lab, Bio lab is all yours.. i said sharply while leaving.

I went back to my office an drew up some plans for my Engineering lab. "Jeffrey.. finish my work  D7.. im working on something new." I closed the blinds and looked the air tight doors around the lab and began work on a defense module.... a weapon active defense module for my High Pressure Water Suit and i also added Gamma Resistant Amour ... I was going to live on Delta 7

After a few hours my suit was upgraded. I loaded my Sub with all necessary equipment need to start life back on land. On the surface... since the day of the black sun..... the end of time.... Nuked world. I have no idea what to expect up there. We have just been checking ground samples on the outskirts of town but never have we had clearance to enter the city. I wonder whats left? Maybe some life still exists up there.... or what is left of the life i knew. According to my testings im pretty sure this will be a lonely city.

"Jeffrey, save my info and take care of yourself.... im going to give you an upgrade that will allow you to have full intelligence... youll be the smart functioning organism to have ever lived. The upgrade is in my safe. Once i leave you use it and take care of things around here for me." I set my suit and current tech to full capacity with the latest updates and upgrades the world will probably ever see. I entered my sub and set my coordinates for D7 and began my assent but before i closed my sub Tess entered with gear... "Take me back home, i cant live in this bubble anymore, plus i know the city and can help" ... I looked down.. "You know im not coming back, right?" She got in.... "Me either" she grinned. We left the underwater city of lights and jeffrey behind and ventured out into the darkness of the ocean that seemed like space... just so lifeless and voided. I sat back and reclined away from the controls and drifted slowly to my knew life on land or what i thought i could call a life.

Tess woke me up and the subs windshield was lit up with the orange waste of the atmosphere... we were on the surface. Doc... we are here.. she said nervously. I got up and programmed my armor and helped Tess with hers. I picked up my assault rifle attachment and added it to my armor, Tess looked at me through her mask of lights and colors and lights with her eyes wide.... "Youve no idea what could be up here huh?" she questioned. I looked at her with a serious look and shook my head..... "Theres something I need to tell you" i shamefully said, "You know those creatures in the inventory lab drumbs... Well ... we didnt make them..... we.... I..... Found them." i choked out. "We just upgraded them to function to our will, I know... Im sorry". She didnt seemed to be phased but i knew she was hurt. "It doesnt surprise me compared to everything else going on" she said in a hashed tone. She continued to finish applying her upgrades and i searched for a place to dock. She finished and i docked, we got out to see the city of old times and the effect of radiation had on it.

The city was large and disgustingly mutated and was molded by the hazard that hung in the air. It was shamefully beautiful in its own unique way... so ugly but living so i was fascinated by the haunting will for survival it had. The sky seemed to watch me with its ugly smog of air hanging overhead. The sun looked green through it and was smaller than i remembered. Tess perked up for the first time since i told her about D7.... "Wow! its still here.... mainly still standing.. Do you think any humans could live here?!"  .... "No" i said while staring ahead in amazement .. "But i thought you said you got those people from here" she declared... "I know... but you asked if they were human...." I pointed to the large erected object that hung high..."They're not human"   She went silent....." Dear God...." she sobbed.

"WHAT IS THAT!?" She screamed."... Its a symbol of some kind or maybe a landmark" i whispered. Im not going to lie, the thing was disgusting, it was about 10 feet tall and hung to what it seemed to be about 4 different peoples remains constructed in a crucifix fashion. There was still fresh remains that still was moist in maroon liquid and oozed a slight orange color. This was fascinating to find not only fresh remains but a oddly religious remembrance of the old society. Then again a feeling came over me that this morbid statue was not of a godly people.... maybe the opposite.... not for god and not people.

I turned to Tess, "We need to go back to the sub and report this to UNWB" i declared. "This isnt good, we thought these things were of little intelligence but apparently these things are capable of much more and now Kyle is about to release a few dozen in the UNWB". Tess looked at me sharply and put her finger over her mask where her mouth would have been and stared at me frightened. I was confused at first until i heard a noise across the hills. I looked over and saw what evil had been hiding on the surface for so long. The last of good had died on earth long ago but never did i think that evil would take its place. There were a group of hooded figures with elongated snouts and in front was a small human child that was blindfolded. I grabbed Tess quickly and pushed her against the small cover that was on the hill. I immediately deprogrammed her voice and hearing programs so she couldnt scream outside of her suit nor hear what was happening. She tried fighting but i had her pinned so should wouldnt give away our location. I then peaked over to see the most evil that i never knew could live inflicted to this small child as these hooded things seemed to have sacrificed in a horrific and painful fashion. Never will i be able to forget the screams of that small child but the red painful clumps that stain on the concrete will soon fade in time. Tess began to cry knowing the fate of the young boy even though she couldnt see nor hear what happened.

I calculated my ammo to the number of hooded things and realized i would run out before i could have killed half of them. I turned on Tess's hearing program but not her voice communicator and spoke softly but firm. "Listen, we need to leave now, i cant have you making any noise, just listen and follow close" ... she looked at me with wide eyes and nodded. I peaked over the hill again and a cold chill shot down my spin. Nothing but terror quaked in my soul as i saw what was to find not just a few but all of the hooded things looking at me with their blank and empty face staring with an evil beam. They began to shriek and flail as they ran towards us. I took Tess and we ran across the landscape what was now hell on earth. The hooded things were gaining and we had no clue where to go until we reached the city. We ran through a few building and locked as many door behind us as we could until we were exhausted. We came to rest at the bottom of a stair well as we gasped for air.

We were in the cavity of the hell hole of the city. No lights were on and we couldnt see but strange sounds surrounded us and we knew we werent alone. Not even being watched but among the sounds. I set my weapons upgrade on and it caused a light to come on my suit. I realized i forgot to turn on Tess's voice program but more importantly she was no longer with me. I was alone but more importantly so was she and who knew what else lurked in the darkness other than what I have already seen. The last time I saw her was when we were catching our breath for 15 minutes. If only i had remembered to turn on her voice program she would have still been with me. None the less I had a plan to find her, her suit was an Aegis 7 model, a model i helped make and purposely made tracking beacons for situations just like this. I just hope this wasteland would give me enough time to find her before it swallows the last bit of sanity I had. Then I remembered about Kyle and his experiment in the UNWB with those creatures. I needed to warn them but Tess is first priority, She is my responsibility and I couldn't let anything happen to her.

I climbed the stairs and reached the top of the hollowed building of bleak dread. I looked out at the smeared painting of the horizon and felt despair and yet slight interest. The possibility is still there and not all is lost. The driving motivation was only to redeem my sins and wipe clean my hands that were covered in Tess's blood. I needed to save her, not just for her but also for my conscience and well being. If I lose her..... I would be losing apart of myself in eternal despair.

The sun was setting and I knew I wouldnt able to find her with my supplies i brought along. I needed to go back to the UNWB and bring up a well equipped team. We could now test the subject up on D7 since life could be sustained. So much was need down below before I would be doing Tess any good. It tore me up inside but i had to leave her but it is so i could save her. Please forgive me Tess, I whispered as i set my course back down in the depths of the eternal dark waters. I sat in my sub for an hour hoping to see her come over the horizon but she never came. My head and body sunk down as I turned to leave back to the base. Im sorry... i kept saying to myself, and gently i descended into oblivion leaving Tess in a toxic world.

                                     ...........Im Sorry.....

The Black Bride

My Grandfather didnt talk much, nor did he smile. He was very sick after my Grandmother died and never seemed to be himself ever since. He use to love to tell jokes and stay up late and eat candy but he seemed sick and tired and didnt like to talk much either. I was in college and looking after him when he got dementia a few years ago. He normally never made sense when he spoke but i still tried to listen hoping one day he would say my name again, but he wouldnt. A few years past and i was working my first job while living with my Grandfather and my boyfriend was when i realized about "Susan" or the "black bride" as the towns people called her. Apparently my grandfather had an affair a long time ago to this woman who was emotionally unstable. After some time she grew very close to him and wanted to get married, my grandfather then realized how much he loved his wife and never wanted to see Susan again. She was very angry and ill so she tried to prove her love to him by stalking him. One day my grandfather caught her outside in the barn and she threatened to kill my grandmother unless he left her for Susan. My Grandpa tricked the woman by saying he would marry her at midnight the next night by the lake. She met him there dressed in a black gown ready to be married and he came with rope and a large rock. Being so in love she didnt realize he was about to drown her in the lake which he did. He tied her to a large rock and threw her in the lake. She fought hard but still she sank. The town people reported her a missing persons and has yet to go unsolved. My Grandfather told me all of this right before he died say that her ghost has haunted him all these years. I just took it as more of his dementia talk and held his hand. He died the next day. While at his funeral the next week i noticed something in one of the pictures of my grandparents.  I held the picture and felt the cold shock of terror as i seen the this Susan that has haunted my grandfather for years, im not sure what to think but all i know is that it is awfully creepy.

Clown Attic

My older brother and my parents would fight all the time. It was his senior year in high school and he was the most tired person i had every met. My mom always asked if he left at night and went out partying but honestly i never saw him leave his room, he would just sleep.

Finally one day my parents gave me 100 dollars to buy/put a motion sensor camera in his room to see if he would ever leave.

The first night went normal, before we left for school i checked the camera to see what all happened. Mainly just him rolling around or the cat sleeping under the bed. The last few photos i saw i never told my parents. The photos were of a man dressed as a clown that climbed down from the attic in his closet and of him taking food back to the attic. Before he would go back up he would stare at my brother for less than an hour.

My brother never knew about the clown in the attic, but would always tell me about his weird dreams about clowns. I just sat wide eyed and nodded,
something told me it wasnt just my brother he would watch sleep, because i had the same dreams.

Dream Demon

I lost all taste for sleep. I cant do it anymore. My wondering mind and my helpless body has been noticed by the "Dream Demon". It is terror, harnessed by all that i fear. Doctors cant explain my night terrors, they say i have to be faking or some how hurting myself in my sleep but it is real. My sleep, my hide away from evil has been found. I opened the door that was never meant to be opened and now the flood of horror and pain spews its hate onto me.

I still wake up under my bed, as if i was dragged off and shoved under. My legs and arm have cuts and scars from "it" ..... The Boogey Man, the monster under my bed, The thing that lurks in the middle of the night..... He watches you even if you dont know it. He is just waiting til no one will notice your screams.

Once he has you he doesnt strike just yet... in fact he is gentle at first. He glares over you as you sleep, softly taking off a sock to see if you notice. Then softly touching your cheek or taking your covers off. But once your eyes meet his then it is all slaughter from then on. Twisting and pulling, Biting and Gouging, even bending limbs backwards so you will fit under the bed. He doesnt take you to eat you or for its own please. He takes you so it can fall asleep to your screams of torture.

The Tree Walkers

I remember the morning, it was cold and brisk as the dark blue sky in northern Michigan began to rise. I sat in the driveway while my uncle packed the station wagon as we prepared our annual hunting trip. The old car had a rusty red paint job and a car rack on top that held our tent while in the back seat laid our shotguns, my uncles new pistol, and my dads old rifle he gave me before he left for Afghanistan. He would normally come with us and we would hunt big game like elk and moose, we never hunted bears though. There is believed to be a ghoul or goblin that roamed the lands where the bear hunting grounds were. Obviously my dad just said that so i wouldnt want to hunt bear and also the land was another 2 mile hike from our camp site.

My uncle slammed the trunk and came over and gave me a tight hug. "Ready Kiddo?!" he said condescendingly. I nodded and sat up front while my uncle put his pistol in his hip holster. He got in and we began our drive north. My uncle tried to tell me stories about hunting when he was a boy but i fell asleep 15 minutes in. The two favorite stories he would tell were about the 12 point elk and the goblin that attacked my grandpa. My grandpa would never come with us hunting. He would tell me when he was a boy he use to live in these parts; the people were told to never go out passed dark because the goblin would get you. The story was so kids would be home before dinner but apparently my grandpa said he say this "goblin" kill his pet cat and ran into the woods. The story is actually kind of funny when you think about it.

We pulled into our camping grounds which we owned out in the middle of the woods. I gathered wood while my uncle pitch the tent. It was only 7 in the morning so we went straight to our tree stand once we finished setting up camp. We took our guns and sat in the tree for a few hours before we both got off a shot on a moose which my uncle hit. We tracked the moose a half mile before we found it dead in the middle of the woods. You had your standard entrance and exit bullet holes from the shoulder though the stomach. The hind legs and the bottom of the stomach had cuts from probably barbwire or other moose but the way it lined up looked way too odd.

We dragged the moose back which took the rest of the day basically and once we got back to camp we were exhausted. We didnt even have dinner; we just slept through the night. The next day we went to our normal spots but no luck. We checked our tree cams to see what activity has been going on and to see what sizes the moose were this year. The whole day was a disappointment, we didnt see any moose. Only 2 on camera and they were babies.

The last spot we went had a stand and a camera, i sat in the stand while my uncle checked the camera. He looked down at the monitor and became uneasy. I then became nervous because it was getting dark and i couldnt remember the way back. My uncle grabbed me and told me to stay behind him and be quite. I thought it was a joke at first, "Ohhh sure, did you see a gobblin on the camera?!" i joked. He didnt respond. His eyes were fixed ahead. I knew he was serious when he told me to take my safety off and to make sure i was loaded. I then became even more scared. He quietly showed me the camera while still looking ahead. To my dismay i saw something that made my skin crawl. In the monitor was a group of hooded people surrounding a scary gothic statue. I was confused at first. These people just carry out this statue out in the middle of the woods and huddled around it? It made sense later that night, when we got back to our camp. We didnt have a fire before we left our camp but now there was one which we saw off in the distance.

We knew our grounds well so we hiked up high on the hill on looking our site. Both my uncle and I sat wide eyed as we had our guns fixed on our camp site. We were about 40 yards away but we were well covered with the brush and the dark sky of the winter night. On our camp site were 7 people in robes and an old rusty ford truck still running as the people were looking around our site. They shot into our tent then lite it on fire thinking the people were still in their. They then carried out this stone statue from the camera and set it upon the ashes of our tent. It took all of them to carry it, but once set in place they all knelt in a semi circle except one. He went to the back of the truck and took out a large knife and dragged out the moose we killed yesturday. He gutted it and held a cup next to the wound and filled it with blood.

I didnt bother watching the rest, i just sat holding my gun hoping they wouldnt see us. My uncle kept watch and we sat there for about 2 hours before they left. We agreed to take watch and sleep where we were. The sun rose and we went down to the camp site. The moose was mutilated and there were symbols written in blood on the trees and on the ground. We gathered what little we had left and hiked back to the dirt road that we took to get here. The car was lite on fire and was beyond use so we didnt have any other choose. About 4 miles down the road we walked before we reached the pavement road that led into town. We were happy and relieved to know we were out of the woods and somewhat safe. Just as soon as we felt safe the sound of a truck was heard off in the distance. We waved it down but closer it got the clearer we realized we had scene that truck last night. The old man driving the truck stopped and smiled at us. "Look like you boys are lost." We nodded still holding our guns. "Why dont yall get in da truck n ill drive ya inta town?" "Its ok", my uncle whimpered, "We were just out for a walk". "A walk eh? You need guns to go ona walk?" he smiled. "Yes sir, Bears and all" i said. " Ohh thats right, bears, gotta be careful now, specially out in des woods. Some people have been seeing Goblins out here, dont wanna mess wit dem now, ya hear? He still smiled. Well ill best be on my way, he said. "Yall be safe now" he said slowly. He turned to me, winked, and drove away into the woods. Something told me that wink wasnt a "Be safe, pal" kind of wink. It was more like "Ill be seeing you real soon" wink................ and I was right.
